19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first championship for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in especial - led to him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-time trainer Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard court since that period of that year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has secured 21 titles at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my older daughter her name was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his previous six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and regular outbursts on the playing surface had prompted commentators to wonder if his capacity to compete at the highest level was over.

But the player has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the final five games to take the lead.

The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden professional victory, seized the initiative to force a third set.

He rescued 4 initial opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner earned the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
