Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then discovered numerous other smeared automobiles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations banning the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report initial examinations indicate the substance was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; authorities are currently not informed of any injuries in association with the incident," they stated.
City officials announced they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.
A senior official stated the incident rendered him stunned and required to be resolved quickly.
"This event affects the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine victims by a assailant focusing on residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
